Helen Belton is a Welsh based artist specialising in contemporary landscape painting

"My current work is an exploration of the diverse landscapes around Swansea and the Gower Peninsula. The ever changing light, weather and topography of the region are central themes to this series of works."

"I want to deal with the actuality of the landscape, not by abstracting it beyond recognition, but through isolating particular elements that interest me and expanding on them."

Prior to moving to Wales, Helen lived and travelled extensively throughout Australia. An extensive body of work was produced in the time, largely around ideas of remoteness and solitude within the landscape. The large scale format and dramatic colours, formed the basis for the on-going theme.
